Circa 140 partecipanti in rappresentanza di 22 paesi saranno presenti
alla 62a riunione annuale del Bilderberg a Copenhagen, Danimarca. La
lista appena rilasciata è composta come al solito da persone del
business, del mondo accademico e del mondo politico.
Come avviene di solito con il celebre summit, quest'anno il Bilderberg -
che si terrà 29 maggio al 1 giugno - ha attirato una squadra di esperti
autorevoli, tra cui partecipanti importanti come il segretario
generale della Nato Anders Fogh Rasmussen, e l'ex direttore della NSA
(National Security Agency) Keith Alexander, e l'ex consigliere per la
sicurezza nazionale degli Stati Uniti alla Casa Bianca Thomas E.
Donilon.
La riunione del Bilderberg, spesso considerata come una delle reti più
influenti al mondo, è iniziata nel 1954, e nel corso degli anni ha
attirato una notevole quantità di attenzione dei media, sia per la sua
lista di partecipanti formidabili, così come l'aura percepita come
un'opportunità per le elite del mondo di mescolarsi. Oltre ai
partecipanti annuali, il comitato direttivo del Bilderberg è anche una
lista di potenti finanzieri, che comprende Peter D. Sutherland, presidente di Goldman Sachs International, così come Peter Thiel, Presidente della Thiel Capital.
Il Bilderberg opera sotto le "Chatham House Rule", che stabilisce
come nè l'identità né l'affiliazione nè le citazioni di membro possono
essere rivelati da altri partecipanti, compresi eventuali giornalisti
presenti. Anche se può essere destinato a promuovere il libero scambio
di idee tra i benestanti, tali norme hanno alimentato direttamente
quello che i detrattori dicono sia una nuvola inutile di segretezza,
così come una serie di teorie del complotto che paragonano il vertice a
un raduno ombra per gli architetti del "Nuovo Ordine Mondiale".
Già alimentando tali speculazione selvagge in vista del vertice di
quest'anno sono stati arrestati i giornalisti indipendenti Luca
Rudkowski e Dan Dicks, che hanno tentato di confrontarsi con il
personale dell'hotel di Copenhagen, dove il Bilderberg sta per iniziare.

Secondo un comunicato stampa ufficiale, il vertice di quest'anno si concentrerà su una varietà di argomenti, tra cui il futuro della democrazia e la "trappola della classe media," prospettive politica ed economiche della Cina e la situazione in corso in Ucraina. È interessante notare che l'ordine del giorno comprende anche il tema della privacy, così come "il rapporto di condivisione all'interno del mondo dell'intelligence",
che suggerisce come la riunione possa essere utilizzata anche per
affrontare il tema dello scorso anno, ovvero della perdita da parte
della NSA, dell'ex operatore di intelligence trasformato in informatore
di nome Edward Snowden.
